Working with ARVO

Five very dedicated people, armed with many tubs, boxes and bags of stuff, flew out to the small village of Nondalton Sunday morning, 5/19, to conduct a 2-day spay-neuter clinic for pet owners there.

CVAC’s own Dr. Jon Basler, Dr. Alice Velsko, and Veterinary Technician Jamie Blakeslee headed up the veterinary/medical work. ARVO board members Sally Clampitt and Christine Witzmann handled admin, and general support on all fronts. It was terrific teamwork, and when all was said and done, 14 dogs received spay-neuter surgery, and an additional 14 dogs received general check-ups, rabies, vaccines, deworming & other miscellaneous help.

Nondalton pet owners couldn’t have been more gracious and appreciative, and their dogs were awesome … healthy and well cared for. When we boarded our plane back to Anchorage at 4:30 the next day, it was with a wonderful sense of contentment at being able to help such terrific animals and their people. We are especially glad that our relationship with ARVO has gotten off to such a solid start.
